Dr. Michael Sapong

Dr. Michael Sapong is the Chairman, co-founder, and chief strategist of Mamuci Limited and the Nuoyiri Shea Estate (NSE). A visionary leader in forestry, agriculture, and value addition, he is spearheading a transformative enterprise in Ghana’s Savannah Region that unites reforestation, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and rural industrialisation. His long-term strategic outlook—anchored on 50- to 100-year leases—balances ecological stewardship with pragmatic, modular implementation that yields immediate community and investor value.

At the heart of his vision is the Yerada Forest Reserve programme, covering 16,500 hectares under a renewable 50-year lease. It integrates large-scale timber planting, biodiversity restoration, and FSC certification with wild shea harvesting, soil improvement, and intercropping for food security. Through the Nuoyiri Shea Estate, Dr. Sapong is driving the development of domesticated shea cultivation and an 8-tonne-per-day shea processing plant to anchor value addition within the Savannah’s local economy.

A disciplined strategist, Dr. Sapong combines scientific understanding with rigorous financial management, applying cutting-edge analysis and planning to guide sustainable growth. His work engages leading partners such as the Forestry Commission, CRIG, COCOBOD, AfDB, and the Global Shea Alliance, aligning Mamuci with international sustainability frameworks including the UN SDGs and AFR100.

Community benefit remains central to his philosophy. Mamuci’s business model ensures employment, women’s empowerment, and profit-sharing for local communities while strengthening infrastructure and environmental resilience.

Faith-driven and legacy-minded, Dr. Sapong’s leadership exemplifies a new African paradigm: visionary, disciplined, and rooted in equity – proving that environmental restoration and industrial growth can advance together toward long-term rural prosperity.
